�������ϲʿ����������ͼ and the Detroit Red Wings are excited to announce the winner of the Power Play art contest. Ashley Miller of Ann Arbor, Mich., won the $5,000 cash prize for her piece entitled The Power of the Motor City which will be installed in the �������ϲʿ����������ͼ Club at Little Caesars Arena in The District Detroit.����

“Ashley’s piece underscored this year’s theme of making empowered decisions, being proactive and capitalizing on team strengths,” said Stacie Kwaiser, CEO of �������ϲʿ����������ͼ, who was a member of the judging panel. “We received a record number of submissions this year and it was a privilege to review so many unique pieces that underscore Michiganders’ love for our hockey team.”����

Power Play launched in November 2023 and invited participants to submit hockey-inspired artwork focused on action, ambition and power. Each piece was judged on creativity, originality and the theme by a judging panel consisting of Kwaiser, Ilitch Holdings Director of Curation & Collections Marcel Parent and Red Wings alumnus Jimmy Howard.��

A graphic designer at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Miller grew up attending Red Wings games with her family. Miller’s piece is a 28”-by-30” canvas and features several Detroit monuments and symbols, including the Spirit of Detroit sculpture, the Detroit skyline and a purple octopus. Miller used each of these inclusions purposefully to emphasize the theme of “power play.”��

“From the octopus grabbing an opposing player off the ice to the Spirit of Detroit sculpture literally tipping the ice in the Red Wings favor, every detail was meant to show the power behind our hockey team,” Miller said. “I am honored to be named this year’s winner and am grateful to �������ϲʿ����������ͼ and the Detroit Red Wings for sponsoring this community project.”��

A check presentation and art installment ceremony will take place on March 19 in the �������ϲʿ����������ͼ Club at Little Caesars Arena during the Red Wings’ home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. In addition, all qualified art submitted for the 2024 contest can be viewed ��
